Wilson Cellular Complete Dual-Band Building Amplifier/Repeater System for 800MHz Cellular & 1900MHz PCS
|
Cell phone amplifiers/repeater systems extend cellular services in poor coverage areas by amplifying both transmit and receive signals. The amplifiers reduce problems with signal fades and dropped calls while improving voice quality, service range and access. These multi-mode amplifiers are designed to offer a cost-effective solution for use in buildings. These amplifiers are network compatible and enhance the cellular phone user's satisfaction without comprising the operation of the cellular system.
This Amplifier-Repeater greatly improves signal strength inside a building when using your cellular phone. It does this without a physical connection to your phone, allowing you to walk freely during a call. It even allows multiple phones to be used simultaneously.
The signal from the cellular tower is received by the outside antenna and then amplifier and repeated to your phone through the inside antenna. When the phone transmits it is received by the inside antenna and then amplified/repeated through the outside antenna to the cellular tower.
| Compatibility: This dual-band system is a complete kit compatible with 800MHz Cellular and 1900MHz PCS carriers. It is not compatible with iDEN/Nextel or 1700MHz AWS (T-Mobile US 3G). Package will contain all items required to build one full dual-band amplifier/repeater system. All cables are crimped and all necessary adapters are included. The only additional items you will typically require are the pole to mount the external antenna on and a ground wire if you chose the optional lightning suppressor.

Parts Notes:
- Exterior Antenna: Two choices are available, either the lower gain omni directional or higher gain directional. The omni will allow the system to support multiple carriers simultaneously but provide less overall coverage area. The directional antenna provides greater coverage area but will only support a single carrier/cell tower.
- Cross Band Coupler: The system includes a cross band coupler and jumpers for the amplifier inputs and outputs. The cross band coupler splits and combines the dual-band signal on the coax into single band signals for the respective amplifier.
- Amplifier Gain: Because of the higher loss experienced in the PCS band, the 50dB Cellular and 60dB PCS amplifiers make a good pairing. If you use the 60dB Cellular amplifier with the 60dB PCS amplifier you may notice a stronger boost on the cellular bands.
- Interior Antenna: This system can run multiple interior antennas. If you need more than a single interior antenna you'll need to purchase additional cabling, interior antennas and a splitter. Contact us for more information.
Amplifier Gain/Multi-Carrier Note:
The cellular band contains up to 2 carriers and the PCS band contains up to 6 carriers. Each respective amplifier provides the same gain to all carriers in its band. If one carrier in a band is extremely strong it may force the amplifier to reduce gain in order to prevent overload/oscillation. This may result in poor performance on the weaker carrier. If you experience this problem you may need to use multiple single band directional antennas outside - please contact us for help.

Coverage:
This small office system is designed to cover 5k to 10k sq ft (or more) depending upon the strength of the donor (outside signal.) For more coverage area, additional systems may be required.
Antenna Separation:
In order for your system to function properly, you must maintain adequate separation between the interior and exterior antennas. The following rules will help you maintain adequate separation:

Ensure that the exterior Yagi antenna is aimed away from the interior dome antenna.

Ensure that you have 45' of separation between the interior and exterior antennas. Depending upon outside signal strength as well as if you choose the 60dB Cellular amplifier
or higher, you may need 75' of antenna separation.
How dB Affects Coverage:
A 6dB increase in signal doubles the interior coverage distance while a 6dB decrease will halve your interior coverage distance. Likewise, a 3dB increase will increase the interior coverage distance by 43% and a 3dB decrease will decrease it by 30%. For this reason, we recommend mounting the exterior antenna as high as possible (to clear obstructions) in order to obtain a stronger donor signal. Also, if you are dealing with extremely poor signals and require longer cable runs we recommend using lower loss LMR-600 cable.

Please note that while lightning protection will help guard against amplifier damage due to a lightning strike it does not guarantee it.
