The Wilson Electronics 801245 AG SOHO 60 Wireless Dual-Band Amplifier has been carefully engineered to enhance the performance of your cell phone or cellular data card in small office/home office applications. Its advanced technology is designed to significantly improve voice and data signal quality and reduce disconnects and drop-outs. The amplifier works with two antennas (included in kit): one antenna communicates with the cell site (the outside antenna) and the other communicates with your cell phone or laptop data card (the inside antenna).

The outside antenna will collect the outside signal and send it through a cable to the amplifier. The signal is then boosted and sent through a cable to the inside antenna, which communicates with your cell phone or data card. When the cell phone or data card transmits, the inside antenna picks up the signal and sends it to the amplifier where it is boosted and sent through the outside antenna to the cell site.

Important Information Regarding Coverage:

  • This amplifier/repeater, with appropriate antennas, is designed to cover a small office home office sized area and is not designed to penetrate multiple interior walls or drive multiple interior antennas. In order to cover larger areas, penetrate multiple interior walls or drive multiple interior antennas you should consider our higher power systems: 800MHz Cellular Kit, 1900MHz PCS Kit, or Dual-Band Cellular/PCS Kit
  • Coverage is dependent upon the strength of the signal received from the tower at the outside antenna. At the location that the outside antenna is mounted a signal strength of at least 3 bars is required. Use of a high-gain directional antenna for the outside antenna improves coverage area.
This system is a complete kit compatible with 800MHz Cellular and 1900MHz PCS Systems. Package will contain all items required to build one full amplifier/repeater system. All cables are crimped and all necessary adapters are included. The only additional items you will typically require are the pole to mount the Omni-directional antenna on and a ground wire if you chose the optional lightning suppressor.   Need custom cables?

Wilson Cellular Amplifiers extend cellular services in poor coverage areas by amplifying both transmit and receive signals. The amplifiers reduce problems with signal fades and dropped calls while improving voice quality, service range and access. These multi-mode amplifiers are designed to offer a cost-effective solution for use in buildings. Wilson Cellular amplifiers are network compatible and enhance the cellular phone user's satisfaction without comprising the operation of the cellular system.

This Amplifier-Repeater greatly improves signal strength inside a building when using your cellular phone. It does this without a physical connection to your phone, allowing you to walk freely during a call. It even allows multiple phones to be used simultaneously.

The signal from the cellular tower is received by the outside antenna and then amplifier and repeated to your phone through the inside antenna. When the phone transmits it is received by the inside antenna and then amplified/repeated through the outside antenna to the cellular tower.

Open area estimates: Walls will decrease coverage distance. Metal, cement and cinderblock walls will severely attenuate or stop signal penetration.

Coverage area is primarily determined by the strength of the outdoor signal and the gain of the amplifier. To determine correct amplifier size, see chart above and documents below.

Antenna Separation:

In order for your system to function properly, you must maintain adequate separation between the interior and exterior antennas. The following rules will help you maintain adequate separation:

  • Ensure that the exterior Omni antenna is mounted as far away from the interior panel antenna as possible.

  • Ensure that you have 45' of separation between the interior and exterior antennas. Of that, at least 20' should be vertical separation (the Omni antenna should be mounted at least 20' higher than the interior panel antenna.)

 

How dB Affects Coverage:

A 6dB increase in signal doubles the interior coverage distance while a 6dB decrease will halve your interior coverage distance. Likewise, a 3dB increase will increase the interior coverage distance by 43% and a 3dB decrease will decrease it by 30%.

How you can increase the interior coverage distance/area (increase dB):

  1. Use a larger amplifier: The extra 15dB of the 801165 65dB Wilson Cellular Amplifier (Cell Phone Repeater) for 800MHz Cellular will provide over 3 times the interior coverage distance of the 801105 Wilson Cellular Amplifier 50dB Amplifier (Cell Phone Repeater) for 800MHz Cellular (9x the coverage area.) However, do not overpower your system (i.e: don't chose the 60dB amplifier or higher when you have full signal outside.)

  2. Improve the signal from the tower: Mount the Wilson 301202 dual band omni-directional antenna higher or where there are less obstructions between it and the tower.

  3. Use less cable: Every 50' of Ultra Low Loss Cable loses 2dB of signal. However, in order to maintain proper separation between the interior and exterior antennas, you must maintain at least 40' to 45' of separation between antennas when using the 50dB amplifier and 75' when using the 60dB amplifier or higher.
